Cooking for Social Change
Today, children are living and growing up like they have never been in history. They are living in a world that is terrified and unsafe to play in.
It shouldn't hurt to be a child!
Growing up as a child abuse survivor you are always aware that as a mother, you don't want to hurt your children. I think to myself "how can my mother hurt me like this?" now that I am a mother. I see my own young children and think why I would want hurt them? They didn't do anything to me. I have to direct my hurt and anger towards my mother and not my children. I am constantly fighting between good and evil in my head. Fortunately for me, my two sons and daughter get to grow up and never know what it's like to be abused because I know what it's like to be abused I wouldn't want to put someone else through that.
It shouldn't hurt to be a child!
"In all of my relationships, I tell my husband that I was abused as a child in hopes of him not abusing me and I turn around and the abuse starts all over again. But I'm a survivor and think I can survive child abuse, I can survive anything," said McGee. We should aim to heal or minimize the trauma that Kids go through. At The Delightful Cook Foundation our vision is to better the lives of America's children and all children around the world.
